How many times have we come across instances where we have crossed paths with honest hard-working individuals trying to make ends meet, doggedly facing all the harshness that life has to offer? urood means "offers" in arabic and is the plural of the arabic "ard" or "offer" in english

have you ever tried buying or selling something? maybe you were looking for a flat. maybe you wanted to get rid of your old furniture. that unwanted car you won as a lottery prize? what did you do? did you call up all your friends and spread the word? did you start an email campaign? did you type out an advert and stick it in your neighborhood grocery store? did you have to trudge up to the offices of the so-called "weekly classifieds" bearing traffic jams and other troubles like lack of parking space or indifferent staff? did you have to dish out substantial payment for a measly 150 words? that too, without pictures? only to wish that you could have changed that ad, the moment people started calling you asking you a question that you wish you had thought of to begin with, and had to repeatedly answer over and over again? and finally, did you manage to sell that unwanted furniture of yours? what if you had to repeat the same exercise over for something else? would it be a pleasant exercise or a nightmare like the previous time?

help is at hand! urood is here to solve all these problems for you. you can buy and sell products/services and participate in the various forums from the cool comfort of your home, benefitting from the vast reach of the internet. you can upload pictures and enter ample information describing your product or service in detail, enabling the huge number of users of the urood community to easily search and find your product/service and contact you. you can constantly edit and refine your post depending on the responses of people. the service is free, fast and easy to use. using the "anonymize" feature of urood you can safely protect your online privacy.

1.4 how much does it cost to use urood?

the service is free of charge. you don't pay anything.

1.5 so how does urood make money?

currently we don't make any money.

1.6 then how does urood stay in operation?

we are paying all current expenses from our own pockets. in the future, depending on the popularity of the service, we may try to rope in some angel investors or solicit charitable donations, to continue staying in operation.

1.7 so will urood charge for services in the future?

no decision has been taken at this stage. and even if we do, we will not do it unilaterally. an opinion poll of urood users will be conducted and only based on the feedback, will any action be taken. we want to reassure everyone that urood believes in "making a difference". helping the community is our first and only priority. any charges that might be levied will only be to the extent that helps us with the basic running of the website and related costs. we are not looking to make obscene profits at the expense of our user community.

2.1 account login

2.1.1 do i need an urood account to post?

no, you don't need an urood account to post. all postings are self-service which gives you greater control over your posts. for unregistered users, the process works like this:

1. go through the posting steps and submit your post
2. an email containing a "self-publishing" link will be sent to your email address
3. this link will allow you make last minute changes and then self-publish your post. to edit or delete your posting at any time in the future, you need to preserve this email link
4. once self-published, your post will immediately appear on the site. except if you have used the "anonymize" feature. in which case it will appear after 15 minutes

in order to minimize the above steps, your best option is to open an urood account. this allows you to post without waiting for the self-publishing email

2.1.2 then why should i have an urood account?

the urood site is extremely optimized for speed. yet, because we take great efforts in ensuring the authenticity of individuals posting to the site, we cannot decrease the authentication steps involved before a post is accepted. having an urood account cuts down the steps since you are already pre-authenticated. so you can post many times without needing to go through the authentication process each time.

having an account also helps you better manage your posts. you are provided your own "inbox" which allows you to edit, delete or repost any of your posts.

2.1.3 creating account is usually a very painful process. is it the same with creating an urood account?

no, we don't ask for any information except your email address. a link is sent to this address to allow you to activate your account. it is as simple as that.

2.1.4 i have created my urood account but i have forgotten my password.. what do i do?

you can reset your password by having the "reset password" link sent to the email address that you had used during account creation process.

2.2 classified postings questions

2.2.1 how do i submit a post?

2.2.2 how do i reply a post?

to reply to a post, click on the highlighted reply email address in the upper left corner of the posting


2.2.3 how do i edit / delete / re-post a post?

there are two ways to edit / delete / re-post your posting, depending on the way you submitted it

1. if you posted in "logged in" mode, you can edit /delete / re-post from your "inbox"
2. if you posted as an unregistered user, you can go back to your self-publishing email that was sent to your email address. click the link to edit /delete your post.

2.2.4. how can i include a picture with my post?

you can upload picture files along with your post using the following procedure:
1. click the "browse" button on the posting page which will take you to your local pc.


2. select the appropriate picture:



3. fill in the remaining required fields and click the button "click here to preview post"
4. your picture will appear with your post. preview it and then post it.
5. note: large pictures may take a long time to upload on slower dialup internet connections. you can use image editing software to decrease their size before uploading them to urood.
6. warning: please do not upload pictures of prohibited items. you could be blacklisted by the urood user community and also face legal action

2.2.5. where do i find my post?

depending on the main category ("housing / real estate", "for sale", "jobs", "events") that you selected during the posting process, you can click on the same main category heading on the homepage to view your post. for example, if you selected "for sale" as the main category while posting, you can click "for sale" on the homepage. your post should be visible instantly if you did not use the "anonymize" feature. otherwise, your post will be viewable after a maximum of 15 minutes.

of course, this is for people who have urood accounts. if you have posted as an unregistered user, you will be able to view your post under the main category on the homepage, only after you have "self-published" your post based on the email link that will be sent to you.

2.2.6. where is my self-publishing email?

if you post as an unregistered user, an email will be sent to your email address that you submitted during the posting process. please check your email address for the self-publishing email. in case you are using web based emails like hotmail, yahoo or gmail, be sure to check your junk mail or bulk mail folders.

2.2.7 why was my post deleted?

if you post something which is against the policies of urood, you could get flagged by the urood user community and your post could get deleted.

2.2.8 what are flags and flagging?

urood trusts the judgment of its user community to decide what is morally acceptable in terms of postings and pictures. to further empower the user community, urood has put in place the "flagging" system which includes three different types of flags for all postings: "miscategorized" "prohibited" and "spam"

1. miscategorized - if you feel a posting has not been posted in its proper category you can use this flag to highlight that particular post.
2. prohibited - if a post is against the policies of urood or if you find it immoral, you can use this flag.
3. spam - you can use this flag if you feel that a post is spam in nature.

2.2.9 how can i hide my identity and still receive responses?

you can use the "anonymize" feature when posting. this feature from urood disguises your original email address so that others are not able to view it. in this way we are able to protect your online privacy and ensure that you have a safe user experience with urood. this also prevents your email address from being flooded with spam. urood will receive and re-direct all responses to your original email address.

2.2.10 how can i add urood events to my microsoft outlook calendar?

you can add events from urood events to your microsoft outlook calendar by:
1. opening microsoft outlook and keeping it running
2. viewing the event listings in urood by clicking "upcoming events" from urood homepage
3. clicking on the link "add event to microsoft outlook"
4. clicking "open" in the following dialogue box

2.2.11 what kinds of postings are prohibited?

2.3.1 how do i use the search functionality from the homepage

You can search urood from the homepage in three different ways:

1. by using the "search bar" - you can simply type in what you are searching for in the search bar on the homepage and select the relevant category from the pull-down menu and hit "go".

For example if you are searching for secretarial jobs, just type "secretary" and select the category "jobs" from the pull down menu before hitting "go".

2. By selecting one of the "main categories" like "real estate", "for sale" or "jobs".

  

This selection will give you all posts under each main category and all its sub-categories.

3. By selecting a sub-category like "architect" under main category "jobs".



This will give you all posts posted under this sub-category only

2.3.2 how do i use more refined search?

You can get more relevant results by narrowing down your choices through the refined search option of urood. Let us say for example you are looking for a 2-bedroom, 2-bath flat in Salmiya with a maximum rent that you are willing to pay as KD200. You can search for this by entering the following parameters and hitting "go"


4.1 user agreement

Urood LLC, a limited liability company registered with state of Delaware located at 16192 Costal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958, County of Sussex, USA is a sole proprietor of www.urood.com , its domains and sub domains. 
www.urood.com is a venue which provides a collection of services which include classifieds, ads, discussion forums, email services online.
You (the user) can access www.urood.com ("the site"), subject to the terms and conditions of use as changed / updated from time to time entirely at the discretion of (urood.com) as set out below. This Agreement is for an indefinite term and you understand and agree that are bound by such terms till the time you access this site. Should you object to any term or condition of use or any guidelines, you may immediately discontinue accessing to urood.com

4.1.1 CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT

Urood LLC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change, modify or alter these terms and conditions at any time. Urood LLC at its sole discretion can introduce new products and services, discontinue products and services, and make design changes or modification to existing products and services at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of the Urood Web Sites after the effective date of such changes constitutes your acceptance of and agreement to such changes. 

4.1.2 CHARGES

 This Site reserves the right to charge subscription and / or membership fees in respect of any part, aspect of this Site upon reasonable prior notice.
Each party posting Content to the Service is responsible for said Content and compliance with the terms of use. 
All fees paid will be non-refundable in the event that Content is removed from the Service for violating the terms of use

4.1.3 INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION, ACCESS AND EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION

3. Access through a single User Name and Password being made available to multiple users on a network. 
If we reasonably believe that a User Name and Password are being used / misused in any manner as clarified above we reserve the right to cancel access rights immediately without notice, and block access to all users from that IP address.

4.1.4 CONTENT SUBMITTED BY USERS

 You understand that all postings, messages, text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, or other materials ("Content") posted on, transmitted through, or linked from the Service, are the sole responsibility of the person from whom such Content originated. You understand that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will UROOD be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, any errors or omissions in any Content, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service.  The Urood site and Content available through the Service may contain features and functionalities that may link you or provide you with access to third party content which is completely independent of Urood, including web sites, directories, servers, networks, systems, information and databases, applications, software, programs, products or services and the Internet as a whole. 
Your interactions with organizations and/or individuals found on or through the Service, including payment and delivery of goods or services, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and such organizations and/or individuals. You agree that Urood LLC shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings. impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a Urood official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;

forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;

4.1.7 SPAM IS PROHIBITED AND CAUSES DAMAGE; SPAM FILTERING TECHNOLOGY

You will not use the Urood Web Sites to transmit, either directly or indirectly, any unsolicited bulk e-mail or unsolicited commercial e-mail. You will not use the Urood Web Sites in any way that violates the Urood Anti-Spam Policy. A breach of any part of the Anti-Spam Policy is a breach of this Agreement. Urood may use filtering technology or other measures in its efforts to stop unsolicited bulk e-mail and unsolicited commercial e-mail, and if your use of the Urood Web Sites includes e-mail related services, then such filtering technology or other measures may block, either temporarily or permanently, some e-mail sent to you through the Urood Web Sites even if such e-mail does not violate the (Anti-Spam Policy.)

4.1.8 DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

 YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT:

UROOD and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners and licensors make no warranty that (i) the service will meet your requirements; (ii) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; (iii) the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable; (iv) the quality of any products, services, information or other material purchased or obtained by you through the service will meet your expectations; and (v) any errors in the software will be corrected.

Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the service is accessed at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from the download of any such material.

A small percentage of users may experience epileptic seizures when exposed to certain light patterns or backgrounds on a computer screen or while using the service. Certain conditions may induce previously undetected epileptic symptoms even in users who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy. if you, or anyone in your family, have an epileptic condition, consult your physician prior to using the service. Immediately discontinue use of the service and consult your physician if you experience any of the following symptoms while using the service: dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness, disorientation, any involuntary movement, or convulsions.

The Agreement stated in the terms of use shall be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and Urood agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the county of Sussex, Delaware, USA.

Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes and replaces all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter.

4.2.5 Access, Modification, and Deletion

 You can see, modify or erase your personal information by reviewing your posting or account status page. We delete personal information when we no longer need it for the purposes we described earlier. 4.3 antispam policy

zero tolerance spam policy (ztp)

urood llc is very explicit regarding sending Unsolicited Commerce Email (uce), Unsolicited Bulk Email (ube) or better/ commonly known as spam.
Urood LLC is clear in its position and definition of SPAM. If we receive a complaint from a third party that consumers on the Internet have been contacted by any of our customers (availing one of the services provided by www.urood.com), or are advertising a service hosted at www.urood.com via SPAM, we shall terminate their account/s immediately, without any further notice whatsoever.
Notwithstanding these explicit prohibitions, a few customers still choose to disregard these policies, thereby endangering our own and our customers' ability to conduct business on the web.

We have therefore, adopted an anti spam policy. To ensure that there are no misunderstandings, we will once more clarify our position, defining what is not permitted, outlining the response we will take when our policy is violated, and highlight below some of the potential legal exposure, that anyone who engages in SPAMMING may have to deal with:
Do not send out any unsolicited commercial email (uce, also known as spam). We do not want to conduct business with anyone who does unsolicited bulk mailings.
spam-tising your website, i.e. sending out unsolicited bulk email promoting your site by using Urood web servers to transmit these messages is absolutely prohibited.
Forms used on websites to get the feedbacks and other information from visitors should have a single 'From' email address that belongs to your website only, else all the emails sent will be black-holed or rejected.
You will be held liable for such infringement even if the spamming action was done by a third party for your benefit, i.e. in case your advertising agency or one of your employees does the spamming, you would still be held responsible. If a sub-lessee of your site spams, accountability still remains with you.
We shall submit the SPAMMER's domain name(s) to all anti-spam blocking databases. Our submission shall make the domain(s) virtually un-useable even if/ when the spammer transfers to another provider.
Our processes are automated hence once a complaint is received your account will be terminated without any further notice. If you find your account terminated please contact abuse@Urood.com, with the following details.
(i) copy of last email sent out in bulk
(ii) ip address of smtp server

Note: Without these details the email will not be accepted, and will by default not get processed.

in conclusion, we strongly urge you to consider the above. There is only one rule and it is very simple: do not spam. if you are not sure whether you are spamming or not, then you probably are. in that case, stop right away.

the above policy is without prejudice to Urood LLC's rights and any action Urood LLC can and/or shall resort in order to stop spam.
